In 1965, at age 15, Billy Driver went to work for several local car dealers around Boonville. He cleaned up cars and started driving cars back from Washington DC. It didn’t take long for him to realize he had found his talent and passion. Billy joined Melvin White in 1969 who, at the time, owned White Motor Company. They joined as partners and the two of them ran a very successful business for nearly 20 years. In 1985 White Motor Company purchased the George Bovender garage in the Boonville city limits and relocated. As Business increased, many dealers from up north would often refer to White Motor Company as “the honey hole” for buying classic cars in the south, to take back up north. In 1987, Billy bought Melvin out and changed the name to Driver’s Auto Sales. It remains a successful business to this day. Lorraine Stanley has worked for Driver’s Auto Sales for over 40 years. As Many know, her continued dedication has helped run a very productive business. In 2009, Billy’s Grandson Sidney Barker joined Driver’s Auto Sales. Billy has dedicated years to showing Sidney the ends and outs of the car business — Sidney has many of his same talents. With over 55 years of collective experience, and over 30 years experience under the name ‘Driver’s Auto Sales’ — we are your trusted neighborhood car sales.
